This is my seventh recipe. And this recipe is very traditional it can be prepared during the famous festival that we celeberated during the tamil month of thai and it is famous neivedhiyam in most of our temples in tamilnadu. That the recipe is SAKKARAI PONGAL.

SAKKARAI PONGAL
Before go into the recipe lets know the ingredients.
INGREDIENTS
RAW RICE - 1 CUP
GREEN GRAM DAL - 1/2 CUP
JAGGERY - 3/4 CUP
MILK - 1/2 CUP
GHEE - 1/2 CUP
CARDAMOM POWDER - 1 TEA SPOON
CARDAMOM AND RAISINS - AS PER YOUR WISH
EDIBLE CAMPHOR - 1 PINCH
WATER - 7 TO 8 CUPS
PROCEDURE
wash the rice and dal, then soak it in the milk and water for 15 minutes
after the rice and dal gets soaked take a pot and add water after the water gets boiled add the rice and dal mixture then cook the mixture untill it cooked to mushy condition.
after the rice gets cooked add jaggery and cook it for few miutes untill the jaggery mix well with the dal and rice.
then add cardomom powder and then fry the cashew nuts and raisins in the ghee and add it to the pongal.
finally crush the edible camphor and add to the pongal.
noe the delicious sakkarai pongal is ready to serve.
berfore serving garnish the pongal with cashews and raisins.
